In East Tennessee, the sound of Christmas wonder doesn’t chime or rustle like bells do, it comes in the form of a long, distant train whistle echoing throughout the hills and trees of the Smokies. We hear that train several times a day during Dollywood’s operating season, and just after the first week of November, those trains become part of the Christmas celebration that Dollywood brings to the overall Winterfest table for nearly two months (!) of the calendar year.
A two month holiday festival? That’s right, and each year, Dollywood does all it can to make 1/6th of the trip around the sun worthy of the time with a multitude of Christmas shows, decorations, treats, meals and attractions covering one end of the park to the other.
